EDITORIAL POLICIES

Any manuscript submitted to the Europasian Journal of Medical Sciences (EJMS) must be plagiarism free and not be published in any journal, or under consideration of publication in any other journal or other citable forms. Authors are required to ensure that no material submitted as part of a manuscript infringes existing copyrights or the rights of a third party.

PEER-REVIEW POLICIES
The EJMS follows the double-blind peer-review process where the identity of the author kept secret from the editor and the identity of the editor kept confidential from the author; to ensure the personal bias ensuring the standard of quality requires for the article before acceptance for publication. We make every effort to reach an initial decision within two to four weeks of submission, depending on the type and clarity of research work, research methodology used, availability of reviewer, etc.

All submitted manuscripts are peer-reviewed to ensure editorial appropriateness and technical correctness. Every article after the successful submission, first evaluated by the editor-in-chief and check the overall quality, and appropriateness of the manuscripts. If the manuscript is found appropriate then the editor-in-chief will assign an editor from the editorial board who will review the manuscript for the extent of plagiarism and give the editorial feedback within 2-3 days of the manuscript submission and sent it back to the author for the revision within one week time. The revised manuscript is then forwarded for the further peer-review process. The assigned editor will assign at least three reviewers (two national and one international) for their review and feedback. All the authors are asked to provide names and contact details of two reviewers of the related field expert; however, the final selection of reviewers is the responsibility of the assigned editor for the specific manuscript submitted. Based on the review process, the editorial-board can reject, accepts or accept after revisions of the manuscript.

Our editorial team will occasionally seek advice outside standard peer review, for example, on submissions with serious ethical, security, biosecurity, or societal implications. We may consult experts and the academic editor before deciding on appropriate actions, including but not limited to: recruiting reviewers with specific expertise, assessment by additional editors, and declining to further consider a submission.

 ETHICAL GUIDELINES

A statement to ethical approval must be appeared in the Methods section of the manuscript, including the name of the body from which approval has been provided, with a reference number where appropriate. Informed consent must also be documented. For all articles that include information or clinical photographs relating to individual patients, written and signed consent from each patient to publish must also be made available if requested by the editorial board. The involvement of scientific (medical) writers or anyone else who assisted with the preparation of the manuscript content should be acknowledged, along with their source of funding. EJMS requires authors to declare any competing financial or other interest in relation to their work. All competing interests that are declared will be listed at the end of published articles. Where an author provides no competing interests, the listing will read 'The author(s) declare that they have no competing interests.

The EJMS is committed to meeting and upholding standards of ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. We follow closely the industry associations, such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), that set standards and provide guidelines for best practices in order to meet these requirements.

Open Access Publication and Copyright Licensing

The Europasian Journal of Medical Sciences (EJMS) adopts the Open Access publication model where neither readers nor a reader’s institution are charged to access the published articles or other resources. All users all around the world are free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles. Authors who publish their article in Europasian Journals retain the copyright and moral rights of their work under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0) which lets others distribute and copy the article, to create extracts, abstracts, and other revised versions, adaptations or derivative works of or from an article (such as a translation), to include in a collective work (such as an anthology), to text or data mine the article, even for commercial purposes, as long as they credit the author(s), do not represent the author as endorsing their adaptation of the article, and do not modify the article in such a way as to damage the author’s honor or reputation. Authors will retain copyright and grant the exclusive right to publish and distribute an article, and to grant rights to others, including for commercial purposes. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

Under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (read the human-readable summary or the full license legal code), author(s) retain the ownership of the copyright for their content, but allow anyone to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute and/or copy the content as long as the original authors and source are cited. No permission is required from the authors or the publishers. Appropriate attribution can be provided by simply citing the original article. The author as the rights holder transfer the copyrights to the Journal publisher by signing on the “Contributor’s form & copyright transfer agreement form”. It is a license agreement under which the author retains copyright in the work but grants the publisher the sole and exclusive rights and license to publish for the full legal term of copyright.

Digital Archiving

The EJMS provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS. Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from ICRP and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. EJMS has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.
